Buckfield Parade & Community Day — A Celebration of Small-Town Maine

Buckfield Parade & Community Day was a celebration of everything that makes small-town Maine so special.

Buckfield Parade & Community Day is one of those events that reminds me why I love photographing life in small-town Maine. The day kicks off with a parade down Main Street—floats rolling by, candy flying, and cheers rising from families and friends along the route. It's one of those moments where neighbors wave to neighbors and the whole town feels connected.

After the parade, the school grounds come alive with food trucks, local vendors, and entertainment for all ages. Families browse handcrafted goods from makers like Starbird Hill with their beautiful handmade treasures, Cheyenne's Shiny Creations, and Brim's 3D. Kids run between activities, parents catch up with familiar faces, and the whole space fills with that perfect mix of small-town charm and lively fun.

One of the highlights for me was photographing Cosmic Creation, a dance fusion and aerial arts group from Oxford Hills and Auburn. Their performance blends movement, aerial artistry, and storytelling in a way that feels absolutely magical. Their mission—to create spaces where movement, art, and community come together—is something they bring to life beautifully at events like this.

I also love seeing so many local performers and small businesses come together to make Community Day shine. From unique crafts to delicious food, it's clear that Buckfield is full of creativity, heart, and talent.

A huge thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and everyone who shows up to celebrate. Events like this are why I love photographing community gatherings—they capture the joy, connection, and shared spirit that make Maine feel like home.
